Scattering Perception

Purple Dawn in Skyline Drive

I actually made this Arizona looking photograph in skyline drive.  The purple effect of the pre-sunrise is caused by a phenomenon known as scattering.  Scattering occurs when the light rays hit tiny molecules of debris in the atmosphere and the rays and change the direction the light rays were traveling.  Giving the effect of different colors in the atmosphere based on the amount and type of debris.  So, this photograph that I created looking at the horizon over Buzzard Mountain has an Arizona type look to it due to scattering.  This feel was further suppored by anchoring the stray yucca plant in the bottom left of my composition.
